So far, so good (not really).

I have one week left of school before holidays and 3 huge (well, one huge and two fairly average) assignments that I have done barely anything on.
A Music comparative analysis, an ICT  design folio and a Chemistry EEI (a big scary report).

In the slight chance that any of you are really, really nice (and I would assume, desperately bored) and wants to give me some tips, I would be totally indebted to you (I might even send you a little gift!)

So this morning I got out of bed and planned my attack.
Avoid EVERYTHING.
So I baked some Christmas cookies. Because despite the fact that it is not yet that joyful time of year, I needed it to be... just for a little while.
(If you haven't noticed, I LOVE CHRISTMAS! Such a child, I know. Sue me)
I even took some lovely photos to share with my lovely readers and was going to share my delicious recipe with you.

But.
I lost my camera cord.
Sorry..
I'll try and get it up soon.

News Update on the baby guinea pigs:
The dark brown one and the fully caramel one are boys and the one with a white face is a girl.
This means we have to sell them pretty soon before they start mating.
We have another litter on the way, so we can't keep them.
I'll put some more photo's up soon.

Hasta pronto!

Flattery and Fakeness in Friendships

I don't like Facebook.

Now before you run away thinking oh great, ANOTHER Facebook rant, hold your horses.
Facebook is simply one tool that I believe has enhanced a what I like to call:

'Suck-up-ery-ness'
In other words, flattery and fakeness.

I love a compliment as much as the next girl, but sometimes the suck-up-ery-ness in the world of friendships, and especially fb makes me sick.  This form of flattery is all about what they can get out of it, not whether it's true or they mean it. Facebook in particular is rampant with flatterers and is breeding them at a concerning rate. (I know, for me, if I spend too long on there I can easily fall into the same trap). Sure it might make you feel good in the moment but they are going to turn around and say the same thing to every other girl.

These 'flatterers' can be very clever, aiming their flattery at our weaknesses or sensitive spots so that their comments feel really good. But there is always a question of intention and more often then not, the comments are not made for your benefit.

I'm a really honest person, sometimes too honest. But lots of people tell me they appreciate it. So if you can avoid becoming a flatterer, please do. There are already enough people in this world who are going to tell you that you look good when you don't. Compliment others when its true but tell the truth (as tactfully as you can) when you should.

Feel free to share your opinion below.

New Neighbours

We met our new neighbours today.
I don't know if it's just me but I take ages to actually bother to introduce myself to the newbies on the block. Not that I don't want to (I actually love the idea of going 'round to the neighbour's for a barbeque and baby-sitting their kids when they're out), but I'm just seriously lazy.
So I was grateful when our neighbour yelled out a greeting from his verandah as we were on our way to church this morning.
The conversation went something like this (ignore my terrible conversational input):

Neighbour Man: Hey!

Me: Oh hey

NM: Are you guys from next door?

M: Uh, yup

NM: Yeah well someone tried to break into your vehicle the other night

M: What?

NM: Yeah I was out on the verandah having a smoke at 2 in the morning and I saw this head bobbing up and down from behind the car. So I ran out and chased him but he was too fast.

M: Oh, well thanks!

NM: No problem mate.

M: Oh and welcome to the neighbourhood...

What a way to meet the locals... Though I suppose it's comforting to know someone is looking out for us while we sleep (sounds slightly creepy but heroic).

Guinea Pig Babies!

I opened up my guinea pig cage to feed my pigs before school the other day, to find these three adorable little things:

The guinea pigs -less than one day old.

The story of how we found their parents is actually quite a funny one. My brother was riding at the River and saw 3 guinea pigs on the grass feeding happily. Next to the path... at the river.. But they looked tame enough, so he caught them and brought them home. Whether or not they were escapees or were actually simply dumped their pets at the river is still a mystery.
Although we managed to pass off the one male to a friend, both of the females got pregnant, so there are still more on the way.

I'll put up some new pictures soon.

Introduction to me.

I started this blog today because I'm stressed.
I have realised that I have no idea how to handle stress and that I am just about the most unresilient person I know.
So I turned to Google.
While most people I know would ask someone what to do, or go see a squint, I like to think that an internet search engine holds all the solutions for life's problems.
And Google told me to start a blog.

Sounds legit.

So I'm not really sure if anyone is ever going to read this, but I think it will be a worthwhile place to take out all my stress.
Maybe someone who actually cares will stumble across this jumble of words and emotions and it may help them.
Maybe I'll show my kids some day.
Maybe my good intentions will all fall through and I'll never write on this again.
I don't mind.

But I should introduce myself.
I'm Bree.
I'm a stressed -16 going on 30- year old girl who wants to be remembered and do something that changes everything, but is wondering if that is just an outdated idea.
